Comparing purchasing agents by what happens when a warning comes true
Fees decide what you can afford to check, and a written inspection scope decides what you can hold the agent to; the other four points follow from those two.
Six points to compare, with fees first
No agent suits every buyer; the question is which one fits the way you buy. What to compare comes down to six points: fees, service, speed, safety, trust and routes. Fees lead the list for two reasons: they are measurable before any money moves, and they decide whether you can afford the warehouse extras that answer a seller's warning, such as a measurement photo or a close-up.
For a buyer who reads the advance lines, two of the six change shape. Service becomes how well the agent's buyer handles a question to the seller before payment. Trust gains a question of its own: has the agent written down what its warehouse check covers, and where can you read it.
Trust: whether the inspection scope is written down, and where
A paid order, a cancelled purchase and a delayed refund are different states. Unexplained discrepancies need account records and a support response before anyone can identify the cause. A written inspection scope does not prevent that, but an agent that publishes clear rules is easier to hold to them. All six featured agents publish a scope; they put it in different places and word it differently.
LoongBuy has the longest version, a help-centre article with tables by product category and a list of situations it does not treat as defects. Hipobuy and Oopbuy share almost the same notice text. iTaoBuy puts its scope inside a logistics explanation and makes inspection an option you select. JoyaGoo and Basetao each have a short dedicated page. The featured agents page quotes each one.
A checklist before settling on one agent
Before moving a first order to any agent, run through four checks. Each takes a few minutes on the agent's own help pages.
- Fee transparency
- Is the service fee stated, and can you find the exchange rate the agent converts at? A zero service fee with a wide markup is still a fee.
- Storage terms
- How many days are free, what happens after, and is an extension possible? Basetao states 120 free days; Hipobuy, iTaoBuy, JoyaGoo and Oopbuy state 90.
- Compensation and disputes
- What does the agent pay if a parcel is lost or damaged, and how long do you have to report? Look for a number of days, not just a promise.
- Who runs it
- Is a company named on the terms page? iTaoBuy and JoyaGoo name UK-registered companies; a public company register will confirm whether such a company exists and is active.
Service and speed when the seller is slow
Speed at an agent is mostly speed of purchase and speed of photos; the seller decides the rest. Hipobuy, iTaoBuy and JoyaGoo all say orders placed during Beijing working hours are bought within about six hours. After that the seller's dispatch takes over.
Service shows when the seller is slow. iTaoBuy publishes a routine: a first follow-up on day four after an unshipped order, then every three to four days, and a return offered if the seller still does not ship or reply. That routine does not apply to pre-sale or deposit orders. LoongBuy's FAQ says value-added requests such as video or size measurement can be raised through order messages or customer service. A buyer who reads seller warnings will lean on these services more than most.
Safety, routes and what this page does not grade
Safety here means what happens to a piece between the warehouse and your door: how it is stored, how it is packed, and what the agent does if the parcel is lost or damaged. Routes means which shipping lines reach your country. Both matter, and both change with the destination and the season, so this site describes them rather than scoring them.
There is no league table on this site. Placing agents in order would take public, repeatable data on service, speed and swallowed orders, and this review does not have such a representative dataset. What this site gives instead is a dated quote for each point and a short note on which situation each agent suits, on the featured agents page.
